Saleswoman

A man was known among his friends to be very brief and to the point -
he really never said too much.
One day, a saleswoman promoting a certain brand of cosmetics knocked on his door and asked to see his wife. The man told her that his wife wasn't home. "Well," replied the saleswoman, "could I please wait for her?"
The man directed her to the drawing room and left her there for more than three hours. The saleswoman was getting really worried, so she called out to the man and asked,
"May I know where your wife is?"
"She went to the cemetery," he replied.
"And when is she returning?"

"I don't really know," he said. "She's been there eleven years now."

What is already done, its over, cannot be changed

We have made mistakes in the past, may have caused pain to people around us, in this birth and many before. We do not need to think of what is already done, it’s over, cannot be changed. Focus only on creating the right karma now.
Creating guilt, self criticism or self hatred about the past will deplete our power, and again create present karma of negative energy. We need the power to create right karma now, so focus only on the now.
When return of past karma comes to us as challenging situations or conflicts in relationships, we have to now respond to the situation with stability and positivity. Even if we are constantly receiving negative energy, we have to create and radiate only positive energy.
Even if we have one strong negative karmic account, it depletes the soul power and can affect our health and our relationships. Change the quality of that karmic account so that we enjoy all our other beautiful karmic relationships.
Everything that we do whether at work or in family, let us set our goals and use our skills and qualities to achieve them. The focus should be on our own journey, not in reference to others around us.
If we keep striving to go ahead of others and appear to be in a race, then stress, anxiety, fear and jealousy will be our normal emotions.

If we focus only on our goal, then there will be no insecurity, we will be confident and motivated. This stability will keep give us the energy, which will empower us to achieve our goal. When we create insecurity and jealousy we will achieve less than our capacity.
It is because we want to go ahead of others, we compromise on our values, principles and ethics. Compromising on values depletes the power of the soul.

Value of Human Life

A poor old man lived in a forest and eked out his living by making charcoal from scraps of wood and selling it. One time, as a reward for rescuing a king who had lost his way in the forest, the poor man was given a beautiful grove full of most fragrant type of sandalwood trees. These trees were of a special quality from which expensive and rare perfume was made. One of these trees, in its natural state and without any effort on the part of the old man, was alone was worth more than the poor man could have earned during the rest of his life by producing and selling wood as charcoal.

Of course, the poor old man was very happy over this gift, but did not realize what a great fortune was bestowed on him. So, in order to make a living, he resorted to making charcoal out of sandalwood trees and selling it in the market for a pittance.

After a long time the king happened to pass that way again and noticed that the most valuable grove had been reduced to ashes, also that the old man was in the same poor condition as before. When the king enquired as to what had happened, the old man related that he had been earning his living by making charcoal from the trees. The king then asked him if he had any sandalwood left. The old man replied that he had nothing except a small piece, perhaps, one or two feet long. The king told him to go to the same bazaar where he had been selling the charcoal and sell this piece of wood without first turning it into charcoal. There were some wealthy people in the bazaar who noticed the excellent quality and rare fragrance of this piece of sandalwood. Recognizing its value, they all wanted to buy it. The result was that the old man earned hundreds of rupees out of that small one piece of sandalwood.

He returned to the king with the money, and the king said: ``You have not appreciated the value of this wood. Had you appreciated it, you could have earned millions instead of paltry sum you did by selling it as charcoal and that too after going through the unnecessary labour of first making charcoal out of it.'' On realizing his mistake, the old man asked the king for another such gift that he might make proper use of it. The king replied that such gift is bestowed only once in a lifetime.

In the same way, the true value of the human body is realized at the time of death, when man regrets that he has squandered his most precious possession. The result is that he has to go to hell or lower births. Similarly, we are selling our birthright for a mess of pottage.

Our body may be likened to a precious sandalwood forest, which we can exchange for millions of rupees   (spiritual values) but we, in our ignorance, reduce it to charcoal in the fires of the five passions.

An A-to-Z Visual Guide to Low Back Pain

If you have frequent episode of BACK PAIN please read through. May help to comfort.

What Is Low Back Pain?

Low back pain is a universal human experience -- almost everyone has it at some point. The lower back, which starts below the ribcage, is called the lumbar region. Pain here can be intense and is one of the top causes of missed work. Fortunately, low back pain often gets better on its own. When it doesn't, there are effective treatments.

Symptoms of Low Back Pain

Symptoms range from a dull ache to a stabbing or shooting sensation. The pain may make it hard to move or stand up straight. Acute back pain comes on suddenly, often after an injury from sports or heavy lifting. Pain that lasts more than three months is considered chronic. If your pain is not better within 72 hours, you should consult a doctor.

Symptoms That Require Urgent Care

Severe back pain after a fall or injury should be checked out by a health care professional. Other warning signs include a loss of bowel or bladder control, leg weakness, fever, and pain when coughing or urinating. If you have any of these symptoms along with your back pain, contact your doctor.

Muscle Strain or Sciatica?

The kind of back pain that follows heavy lifting or exercising too hard is often caused by muscle strain. But sometimes back pain can be related to a disc that bulges or ruptures. If a bulging or ruptured disc presses on the sciatic nerve, pain may run from the buttock down one leg. This is called sciatica.

Back Pain Culprit: Your Job

If your job involves lifting, pulling, or anything that twists the spine, it may contribute to back pain. However, sitting at a desk all day comes with risks of its own, especially if your chair is uncomfortable or you tend to slouch.

Back Pain Culprit: Your Bag

Although you may wear your purse, backpack, or briefcase over your shoulder, it is the lower back that supports the upper body -- including any additional weight you carry. So an overstuffed bag can strain the lower back, especially if you carry it day after day. If you must tote a heavy load, consider switching to a wheeled briefcase.

Back Pain Culprit: Your Workout

Overdoing it at the gym or golf course is one of the most common causes of overextended muscles leading to low back pain. You're especially vulnerable if you tend to be inactive during the work week and then spend hours at the gym or softball field on the weekend.

Back Pain Culprit: Your Posture

Mom was right when she said, "Stand up straight!" Your back supports weight best when you don't slouch. This means sitting with good lumbar support for your lower back, shoulders back, with feet resting on a low stool. When standing, keep weight evenly balanced on both feet.

Back Pain Culprit: Herniated Disc

The spine's vertebrae are cushioned by gel-like discs that are prone to wear and tear from aging or injuries. A weakened disc may rupture or bulge, putting pressure on the spinal nerve roots. This is known as a herniated disc and can cause intense pain.

Back Pain Culprit: Chronic Conditions

Several chronic conditions can lead to low back pain.
  • Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the space around the spinal cord, which can put pressure on the spinal nerves.
  • Spondylitis refers to chronic back pain and stiffness due to severe inflammation of the spinal joints.
  • Fibromyalgia causes widespread muscle aches, including back pain.

Who's at Risk for Low Back Pain?

Most people get their first taste of low back pain in their 30s. The odds of additional attacks increase with age. Other reasons your low back may hurt include:
  • Being overweight
  • Inactive lifestyle
  • Jobs that require heavy lifting

Diagnosing Low Back Pain

To help your doctor diagnose the source of low back pain, be specific in describing the type of pain, when it started, related symptoms, and any history of chronic conditions. Your doctor may order X-rays, CT or MRI scans to look for damaged bones or discs, or other injuries to the spine.

Home Care for Low Back Pain

Back pain due to muscle strain will usually get better on its own, but you can take steps to make yourself more comfortable. A heating pad or warm baths may provide temporary pain relief.

The Bed Rest Debate

When your back hurts, you may not feel like getting out of bed. But if the problem is muscle strain, doctors recommend returning to your normal activities as soon as possible. Studies suggest that any more than a day or two of bed rest can actually make the pain worse and may reduce muscle tone and flexibility.

Medications

Mild back pain often feels better with over-the-counter pain relievers, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen. Pain-relieving creams may be helpful for muscle aches. For severe pain or chronic pain, your doctor may recommend prescription medication.

Injections

If simpler therapies and medications aren't helping, your doctor may recommend injections to the back. One procedure, called a nerve root block, targets irritated nerves. Injections for back pain usually contain steroid medication.

Surgery

If long-lasting back pain is interfering with your daily life, and other treatments have not provided relief, you may be a candidate for surgery. Depending on the cause of your pain, a surgeon may remove a herniated disc, widen the space around the spinal cord, and/or fuse two spinal vertebrae together.

Physical Therapy

If back pain has left you inactive for a long time, a rehabilitation program can help you strengthen your muscles and get back to your daily activities. A physical therapist can guide you through stretches, strength exercises, and low-impact cardio that will help you be fitter without straining your back.

Strengthening the Back

Two types of strength-training moves that may benefit the lower back are flexion and extension exercises. In flexion exercises, you bend forward to stretch the muscles of the back and hips. In extension exercises, you bend backward to develop the muscles that support the spine. One example is doing leg lifts while lying on your stomach. Depending on the cause of your back pain, there are some exercises you should not do. If you have back pain, make sure to talk to your doctor about what exercises are safe for you.

Preventing Low Back Pain

There's no sure way to prevent back pain as you age, but there are steps you can take to lower your risk:
  • Stay at a healthy weight.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Lift with your legs, not your back.
  • Make sure your work station position isn't contributing to your pain.

If back pain doesn't go away in three months, there's evidence that yoga can help. In one recent study, people who took 12 weeks of yoga classes had fewer symptoms of low back pain than people who were given a book about care for back pain. The benefits lasted several months after the classes were finished. The study suggests conventional stretching also works just as well. Make sure your instructor is experienced at teaching people with back pain and will modify postures for you as needed.

Spinal Manipulation

Chiropractors and some osteopathic doctors use spinal manipulation to treat low back pain by applying pressure with their hands to bones and surrounding tissues. This treatment is not appropriate for everyone.

Massage Therapy

A study funded by the government suggests that massage may help relieve chronic low back pain. After 10 weeks, people who had weekly massages had less pain and were better able to go about their daily activities than people who got traditional care. That was true no matter what type of massage they got, and the benefits lasted at least six months.

Acupuncture

Can acupuncture treat back pain? The evidence is mixed. In 2012, a study of several hundred people with long-lasting back pain found surprising results. Those who had simulated acupuncture (involving toothpicks tapping the skin) got the same benefits as those who had real acupuncture with needles. After eight weeks, both groups had greater relief than people who did not have acupuncture.

Relationships

When relationship is not working, it is usually because there are need and expectations that are not being met. There might be so much anger or hatred that only desire might be just to run away from it all. However, this is not a solution! It merely reflects your lack of understanding about where the real problem lies.

The root of all need and expectation is an unfulfilled spiritual desire. Satisfy your spiritual desires though the practice of mediation and you will able to interact successfully with anyone. No longer needy, you will enter into relationships simply to share and enjoy. There will be no strings attached in the way you give of yourself, your love will be unconditional.

We must learn to bring spirituality into our relationships. Others will learn by our examples. It is a way of inspiring ad uplifting each other.

Compassion means remaining stable when others are in pain

When someone around us is in pain, if we also create pain, then we are only adding to the existing pain. If influenced by another’s situation, we create anger or hurt then collective consciousness starts becoming negative. This is how negativity spreads in society.

Compassion means remaining stable when others are in pain. Sending them vibrations of love and power which they will use to heal themselves.

Detachment means remaining uninfluenced by other’s vibrations. This allows our vibrations to influence them.

If we have had an unpleasant interaction with someone, clean your mind of the past experience before you meet them again. The clean perspective will radiate pure vibrations in the next meeting and will create a pleasant interaction.

Law of Attraction does not mean YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT, it actually means YOU GET WHAT YOU ARE. Our thoughts and words are what we are, these vibrate to the universe and we get them back.

WHAT YOU ARE is a soul carrying – sanskars and karmic accounts. So what we are going to get will be according to our sanskars and karmic accounts. Thoughts create destiny, is always true for the soul, whether in this costume or an earlier one. Costumes may change but the thoughts created then will still create our destiny.

Destiny is created according to our qualities and skills of the present and also karmic accounts of the past. Even if we are not getting the desired result, do not let any of the present qualities and karmas decline. If we create jealousy, insecurity, anxiety, then we are creating a negative present.

Accept the past carry forward and keep yourself strong and motivated in the present. If the present remains powerful and positive we will gradually settle the past, and create beautiful karmas which will influence our present and our future.

THE PERFECT COMPETITION

Often we wonder whether the rules of success have really changed in the world we live in today. Just a few years ago it was believed that Truth alone prevails. But do we have that faith in this statement anymore? Or is it just a saying reserved for the purpose of saying and hearing but not to be practiced. When we look around, we see that, those making progress in life do not really seem to follow this policy any more. And those who follow the principle of being honest, truthful and being good to others get defeated in many a field of life. We all know the difference between right and wrong but as we move along the journey of life, the dividing line begins to grow blurred. The desire to succeed makes us lose touch with reality and we succumb to various pressures. Soon we begin to follow what we call the law of competition, i.e., knowingly or unknowingly pulling others down, taking credit for others work, doing things which show us in better light than others, become greedy and stop sharing Gods gifts with His less fortunate children. Soon we lose ourselves and our innocence in the race of acquiring material possessions.

We feel pressured and pulled from all sides. As we struggle to maintain our sanity, it is time to stop and contemplate the meaning of true success. Why does life seem such a burden, devoid of peace and happiness? When its essential to face the competition in order to succeed, and we are doing what everyone is doing, then why are the things not going right? Even after acquiring everything we ever wished for, why dont we feel contented in the true sense? Why does money not give us the happiness that we want? It is because every action has an equal and opposite reaction. What we sow, so shall we reap. When we sow a seed of hatred, be it on a very subtle level, it grows into a tree of hatred, and gives us the same fruit. A seed of hatred and jealousy can never reap a
fruit of love and happiness. This is the eternal law of karma. Even when we dont realize, the law of karma is at work every second. We keep building our balance sheet of karma with every thought and every action.

What is success in the real sense? Is it measured in terms of the material possessions we have or what people think about our social status? Can success be equated to holding a position of power? Is success really an outward thing or is it the inner state of being? Lets take a moment and look back at our lives. What are the moments that are closest to our heart? Is it when we acquired a new material possession or is it when we shared true happiness with someone or when we helped some needy person? Which moments will matter the most to us? If we think again, how would we define true success? May be we are running so fast in the race of life that we have forgotten what we are running for. We keep running, trying to get ahead of others, collecting material possessions and seeking pleasure in them till we hit an obstacle and fall. It is then that the time forces us to pause and think about what we had been doing so far and what really matters in life. We take time to sit back and comprehend only when the turn of time forces it upon us. But why wait for the time to give us that break?

The fact is that we truly live in a world of perfect competition. We always know when we are right and when we are not. There is an instant satisfaction or dissatisfaction that we derive out of every action, and our actions also get accumulated in our balance sheet of karmas which stays with us till we settle it down, be it positive or negative. Sometimes, certain things, whether good or bad, happen to us and to others around us and when we cannot explain or understand them with our limited vision, we often put it on fate or destiny or start blaming God. But, karmic philosophy tells us that nothing in life happens without a reason. The law of karma is accurate to the level of thought, and no action can escape it. What we perform today creates our future. With the limited perspective of present physical customs and circumstances, we cant really comprehend the functioning of the law of karma. Each and every action of the soul is getting recorded in the infinite Drama being played out on this World Stage.

The more we give happiness, the more we get it in return.Things turn in our favour when we expect it the least.Whatever good things we do, come to our rescue when we are truly in need and when no material possessions of the world can help us out. This is the power of good wishes given by souls who received happiness from us. So, we can benefit ourselves and others around us by understanding and living our life according to the invisible laws of karma and upholding the universal laws of peace, love, happiness and truth. Truth has immense power which makes us fearless. We, then, dont need anyones approval for our acts because we know we are on the right side. So, lets think again. What is success and what is it that we really seek? Are we not living in a world of perfect competition where we dont need to ask for justice as it will prevail? The only thing we can do is not to lose faith and keep moving on the right path.
