7 Everyday Things That Are Making You Age Faster

If following a healthier lifestyle, which includes reducing the amount you smoke, clocking in a sufficient amount of sleep, eating healthy, amidst a whole lot of other rules and regulations sounds like a daunting task (like it does for the most of us), we have news for you.

While expensive creams and serums do their job, the best investment is in the adjustments we make in our lives and our routine that can make us look far younger than we do at this point.

These surprising changes to your daily routine can not only help you look younger but also feel radiant and youthful:

The first thing you need to do is to stop thinking that you’re too old
The fact remains that most people who end up feeling older than their actual age are also more likely to get hospitalised, claims a 2016 study in Health Psychology. Feeling younger helps you become more productive, optimistic and perform activities, such as a workout with more vigor and positivity.

Sleeping on your side
If you’ve noticed how you wake up with creases, lines and wrinkles on your face after sleeping in a sideways position, then that most likely is one of the major causes of ageing on your face. Sleeping on your side squashes your face into the pillow, causing wrinkles. That’s why they say that sleeping on your back is one the best ways to get up well-rested, feeling fresh and youthful.

Not using sunscreen everyday
“Think of sunscreen as the lock on the front door of your house, and antioxidants as the burglar alarm,” says Ranella Hirsch, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in Boston. “Locking the door is most important but locking the door and setting the alarm gives you extra protection.” Overexposure to UV rays is the main cause of premature skin ageing. To protect yourself from the sun’s harsh effects it’s important to wear your sunscreen even when it’s cloudy because clouds block as little as 20% of UV rays.

Eating sugar will accelerate ageing from the inside
That donut does damage beyond your waistline. Starchy, sugary foods—like white bread, ice cream, and potato chips—can cause all sorts of problems with your face, too. That’s because they spike your blood sugar levels, which can ignite inflammation and spur acne breakouts, says Dr. Zeichner.

Try to switch the fruits that you have for breakfast with leafy greens
Instead, throw some kale into your blender. Whitney Bowe, MD, and clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York says that dark green, leafy greens have the highest amounts of those skin-saving antioxidants—including zinc, which helps to break down old collagen, build new collagen and prevent wrinkle formation.

Keep your hair drier at least 6 inches away from your hair

When you blast your hair with heat (whether it’s from your blow dryer, your curling iron or your straightener), you create tiny air bubbles within the hair shaft, explains Pamela Jakubowicz, MD, a dermatologist at Montefiore Medical Center in Scarsdale, New York. Those bubbles lead to breakage, which makes your head of hair look thinner, and you, a bit older.

Eat more healthy fats to nourish your skin from the inside
Healthy fats, like omega-3 fatty acids, calm inflammation throughout the body, says Bowe, making your skin less likely to break out in acne, rosacea and other conditions that result in redness. Omega-3s also prevent the breakdown of plumping collagen and elastin fibers in the skin.

These Cool Psychology Tricks Will Make You Feel Like God

Our brain is a funny thing. A small thing said or done, can manipulate our minds to a large extent. Fun right? Let's check out some really cool psychology tricks which will definitely make you feel like Freud.

1. When at a party or a meeting...

Crack a joke and observe the people who are laughing around you. People who feel close to each other will be looking at each other. This is useful for discerning out friendships and other relationships.

2. Hack the boss.

If you know someone who is mad at you or has it out for you, sit next to them in a particular meeting, this will reduce the confrontation level.

3. Feet don't lie.

To know if someone is interested in a conversation look at their feet, if they are pointing towards you, they are. If they are pointing sideways or any other direction, they aren't. Feet don't lie.

4. The life hack to make people do what you want them to do.

Offer someone a choice instead of a command. For example, instead of saying drink your milk to a toddler, ask which mug would he/she like to drink milk from. This gives the person a sense of control hence produces a higher chance of a better outcome.

5. The art of silence.

When in a conversation keep your silence even after they have finished speaking. More often than not, they will start talking again to avoid the awkward silence. This one can totally freak people out. Tried and tested.

6. The foot-in-the-door phenomenon.

People are more likely to agree to do a task for you if you ask them to do something simpler first. Gradual Commitment, makes people them think you like them. Even if, deep down, you want them to burn. *evil laugh*

7. Walking in the crowd.

Avoid the sidewalk shuffle by looking intently over the person's shoulder, or between people's heads in a group. Your gaze shows the crowd where you're going. They'll drift towards the opposite side or create a gap to avoid you. Try it the next time you're out catching a train.

8. Chewing gum.

When you're approaching a situation that would make you nervous like public speaking or bungee jumping, chew on a gum. If we are 'eating' something, our brain reasons it like 'I would not be eating if I were danger. So I must not be in danger'. Chewing gum all the time, however, will just make you look like a cow.

9. Keep calm and carry on.

Best way to handle a situation when someone is angry with you. If you stay calm, and not react,it'll get them even angrier, and be ashamed about it after, and apologise. Been on both sides of the fence on this one, trust me, keeping calm is the best thing.

10. Inception

My favourite. To plant a seed of idea in someones mind, ask them to not think of a particular thing at all. Lets say I ask you to NOT think about ELEPHANTS. What are you thinking of? ;) Have fun trying these out.
